Detailed Property Search and Tax Information

Continuing where we left off with our last article, Finding real estate and property tax information, lets see if we can find a bit more detail regarding the property at 509 E Heights Street or any other properties that may be owned by our subject. So far, we have a bit of information about the property at 509 E Heights Street but what about other properties that may be owned? A search for websites with Lawrence County Tennessee property tax records turned up this property tax search page:

It is somewhat similar to tnrealestate.com, the website we used previously, but only has information for Lawrence County Tennessee. At first we had a bit of difficulty using the search form. We put in the subjects name just as we did before but no matter what we did it always returned zero results. Finally, after a closer look we noticed what we were doing wrong. The *last* name HAS to be entered first in the owner name box. Also, there is a little check box at the bottom of the form that says"Show All Records" that we had been missing earlier:

After a bit of trial and error we finally settled on "Owens Vernon" as our search criteria and left the address field blank. We also had to make sure the "Show All Records" box was checked. This returned a total of 31 results as below:

Keep in mind that this search is going to show a list of all properties under Vernon Owen's name with multiple listings per property for each tax year. For instance, in the screen shot above you can see 3 distinct properties listed as owned or previously owned by Vernon Owens with a varying "Receipt Year" for each property to indication the tax year. Clicking on the icon under "View Details" reveals the information for each property. For example, here is the property tax data for the property at 208 Hughes St., the first item in our list for the year 1993:

Notice at the bottom of the page it shows the property tax for the last few years and in the upper-right hand corner it shows the assessed value of the property as well.

Even though our search turned up 31 results, there appears to be only 3 *actual* properties in Lawrence County owned by Vernon Owens. All the other listings were for the same properties but for different tax years.
