For example, maybe you're applying for a personal loan from a bank for instance. How does the bank know everything about your financial history? Do you have a criminal background or did you ever have a bad credit history? Sure you might have fixed up your bad credit history, but that doesn't mean that you won't indulge in over spending again or possibly become a credit risk in the future.

Thanks to advances in electronics, it's no longer a hard for the average Joe to forge documents. It's at these times that many people will turn to a public records search to find whether the information provides contains the correct details.
There are many web sites that can help provide the information about others. A PC connected to the internet is all that's necessary to find out the details or you or your family. A search on Google for the term "public records search" will turn up a vast array of sites that can, usually for a fee, provide a suprising amount of information about a person.
Nearly every state and county now maintain their own websites that anybody can access and use to search for your government public records. You'll be amazed at the detailed information these sites contain. Details like the amount of money you paid for your home and how much tax you pay each year for it. Almost everything that's written on your deed is now public record and available in just a few seconds. If someone did their homework correctly, they could easily find this information if they know where to look.
You can't blame the government for making these records public, since it's being done for your property tax issues. However, this also works both ways and you too can use it to your advantage. The next time you want to get some information about someone, or are planning to purchase a house, you can easily check out the details using a public records search.
